Faith in the Forecast

The Columbia River Gorge never tells the same story twice.

One moment the mountains stand clear against the sky. The next, clouds pour over the ridgelines, swallowing entire peaks before slowly giving them back. It is a landscape that teaches patience—rewarding those willing to wait for the light, the view, or simply the next change in weather.

On this winter day, those lessons reached beyond photography. Hidden in a jacket pocket was an engagement ring, carried with the hope of asking a life-changing question from the summit of Dog Mountain. But the wind, ice, and storm had different plans.

So Andrew waited.

Years later, this photograph has become less about the proposal that didn't happen and more about the place that taught us an unforgettable lesson: the Columbia River Gorge doesn't rush its beauty, and neither should we rush life's most meaningful moments.
